Mass Effect Series Close To Being Developed By Amazon Studios

In a report from Deadline it was confirmed that a Mass Effect series close to being developed by Amazon Studios. Mass Effect was a popular series of sci-fi RPG games. There have been four games (with a fifth on the way as per images) although many of the fans like to ignore the fourth one as a bit of an abomination. I’ve never really got into the games but some of my friends are big fans and rate the story behind the game as excellent. As per the trade.

One of the company’s newest hopefuls in the arena is Mass Effect. Amazon Studios is nearing a deal to develop a series based on the best-selling sci-fi video game franchise from Electronic Arts.

Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke told Deadline.

“You will see us continuing to invest in fantasy genre of all kinds, we have a genre-focused team on the ground in Studios who work tirelessly with our creative partners on those slates, and you can look forward to more.”

Adapting anything into a movie or a show will always come with it’s fair share of hurdles. As some of my friends have been discussing since this news broke, do Amazon choose a female lead or a male lead? The lead character of Shepherd can be either in any of the games and the story is very different depending on the paths players choose for their own characters, including their backstories. However, as we’ve seen with Amazon’s recent show The Wheel of Time, there will always be fans who hate any chnages. Luckily, what is also true, is that very vocal group tends to be a minority and the vast majority of fans just enjoy that such a thing even exists.

I think sometimes It depends how hardcore a fan you are of something? Or maybe I’ve just learned to stop worrying and love the Hollywood machine?

More about The Wheel of Time from this same Deadline piece later folks.

What do you think of this news of a Mass Effect series close to being developed by Amazon Studios? Would Mass Effect make a great sci-fi TV show for Amazon? How much will the license cost them? Leave any thoughts below.
