Masters of The Universe – Kevin Smith Says Several Cast Members Have Completed Their Voice Recordings

Growing up in the 80s, many classic cartoons come to mind as being part of that childhood. One, in particular, was He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. A classic good vs. evil dynamic, as most of you know, pitted Prince Adam/He-Man against the nefarious Skeletor.

In case you were unaware, Netflix is bringing back the series with Masters of the Universe: Revelation. And seeing how the production is animated, it has faced less trouble as per the pandemic shutdown that has halted most every live-action project in Hollywood.

Speaking on his Fatman Beyond podcast, director Kevin Smith noted that cast members Lena Headey and  Stephen Root have finished recording their parts. You can check out what he had to say below.

Kevin Smith:

“I did recording today remotely for Masters of the Universe — all the recording sessions now you have one person here, one person here, and one person there. The other day, we finished Lena Headey’s stuff, which was awesome. She’s over in the UK, so it was early in the morning for us, like 8 a.m. but whatever time it is over there. I could just listen to her all f-cking day long, man. She just brings it and chews that f-cking dialogue and makes it so good. Think of anyone in your life, have them say ‘wretched,’ and she beats them.

Smith comments on Stephen Root below.

“Stephen Root finished up all of his Cringer stuff, absolutely wonderfu. We finished Chris Wood and all the He-Man/Prince Adam stuff. We finished up Sarah Michelle Gellar for all the Teela stuff and today was like all Mark. All of the Skeletor stuff is now recorded. I’ve heard now all of the scripts brought to life. I’ve heard the last line of the show, so it’s been fantastic.”

It’s been a good long while since I and man others my age have taken a trip to the world of Eternia. For many of us the trip is long overdue and we are more than ready for this series to debut. I will say that due to his Robot Chicken fame, it’s going to be difficult to look at Skeletor as the villain he was when we were younger.

Netflix is yet to confirm a release date for the series.
