San Diego Comic-Con delivered another major announcement for wrestling fans as Mattel and WWE revealed a new multi-year global licensing agreement that will bring Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) into Mattel’s growing lineup of wrestling collectibles.

The agreement expands Mattel’s WWE portfolio to include one of Mexico’s most legendary and influential professional wrestling promotions, marking the first time the toy manufacturer will produce a dedicated line of AAA action figures.

The new collection is scheduled to launch in Fall 2027.

AAA Joins the Mattel Family

Under the expanded partnership, Mattel will develop an all-new line of collectible action figures inspired by AAA’s rich history and colorful roster of luchadores.

The figures will spotlight many of the promotion’s legendary stars, showcasing the elaborate masks, vibrant ring gear, and larger-than-life personalities that have made AAA a cornerstone of lucha libre for more than three decades.

Known around the world for its fast-paced in-ring action and distinctive characters, AAA has built a passionate fanbase through its unique blend of athleticism, storytelling, and Mexican wrestling tradition. Mattel’s new collection aims to capture that identity while introducing AAA’s iconic performers to an even broader audience of collectors.

Expanding Mattel’s Wrestling Portfolio

The announcement further strengthens Mattel’s long-running relationship with WWE, reinforcing the company as the premier destination for officially licensed WWE action figures and toys.

By adding AAA to its portfolio, Mattel is broadening its reach beyond WWE’s core roster while capitalizing on the growing global popularity of lucha libre. The partnership also reflects WWE’s expanding relationship with AAA following the companies’ recent collaboration, creating new opportunities to celebrate stars from both promotions through collectible merchandise.

The upcoming figures are expected to emphasize the visual style that has defined AAA since its founding, with detailed recreations of the colorful masks, elaborate costumes, and signature looks that have made lucha libre one of professional wrestling’s most recognizable traditions.

Arriving in 2027

Fans will have to wait a little longer before adding the new figures to their collections, as Mattel confirmed the AAA line will debut in Fall 2027.

While specific wrestlers and product details have yet to be announced, the agreement signals a significant expansion of Mattel’s wrestling offerings and promises to bring some of AAA’s most iconic superstars into action figure form for the first time under the WWE licensing umbrella.

More information about the inaugural wave of figures is expected to be revealed closer to the line’s 2027 release.
