There’s something truly special about filmmakers and actors who are able to appreciate stories at a truly geeky level. With actor Michael B. Jordan, it’s known that he’s a big anime fan and even led the recent Rooster Teeth-produced webseries gen:LOCK. Jordan Vogt-Roberts, similarly, is a true geek. If you’ve seen any interview with him, it’s clear he has a love and appreciation that rivals many fans. Specifically, when it comes to monster movies, he seems to really get what viewers want to see, because he himself is a viewer.
It was inevitable that these two would eventually collaborate on something cool. According to THR, that’s exactly what’s happening. The outlet is reporting that Jordan and Vogt-Roberts are teaming up for a monster movie of some kind, which is fitting since the filmmaker directed Kong: Skull Island.
Details surrounding the movie are sparse, but it will reportedly be based on an original idea from Vogt-Roberts, and it will be set in his hometown of Detroit. There is currently no script, but Jordan’s production banner, Outlier Society, is currently in search of a screenwriter as we speak. Jordan will be producing alongside Alana Mayo.
There is no word on when this project will hit theaters, but it likely won’t be for a bit, as Vogt-Roberts is still attached to adapt Metal Gear Solid for Sony. What do you think of this news? Let us know down below!
