Some new set photos have dropped online for the Highlander reboot and these show Dave Bautista as The Kurgan for the first time. We can only show Special media embeds for the images here which are copyrighted, but by clicking, there are more images to see of both Bautista and Cavill on set. This follows recent images showing only Cavill, then alongside Jeremy Irons that we shared (see related section below).

Many fans have pointed out that it looks like The Kurgan is wearing a priests outfit in the image above. What does that mean and will The Kurgan be very different in this reboot. Some fans have also expressed concerns that Bautista doesn’t look crazy enough compared to Clancy Brown. However, I will refrain from any opinions until I see some footage or find out what this story is.
Still, everyone’s opinion is there own. I don’t see anyone complaining Connor looks nothing like Christopher Lambert mind you.

We still do not have a release date for Highlander, it could be later this year or some time in 2027. Though I don’t see it being any later to that with filming underway now.
Personally, I’m still very excited by this film and I look forward to eventually getting some more official images. Especially of Connor’s past in Scotland and Heather (Karen Gillan) and Ramirez (Russell Crowe). My suspicion is they are shooting the modern scenes first. It’s still not known (or if it is I’ve missed it) where the location shoots are planned for. Maybe they’ll come over to my neck of the woods for the authentic experience and some real castles. I guess we will find out soon enough.
What do you think of these new Highlander images showing Dave Bautista as The Kurgan? Thoughts below as always.
