It’s currently the wonderful Oscar season in Hollywood, with films like The Shape of Water, The Disaster Artist, and Lady Bird awing audiences and critics alike.
And of course, a couple months after this season of critical darlings, we will get the awards ceremony that film fans around the world are waiting for: The Academy Awards — or perhaps more commonly known as The Oscars.
In a new trailer teasing the ceremony, ABC reveals that the ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 8pm EST/ 5pm PST on the network. This is roughly a week or so later than this past year’s February 24 date, and is 30 minutes earlier. While the change in week is no big deal, some viewers may be excited to hear about the minor time shift.
In the past, The Oscars has received a lot of criticism for its inflated, three-hour-plus runtime. While we doubt they’ll be addressing that, at the very least, it seems to be making the right move in starting it a half hour earlier. In doing this, they’ll at least ensure that poor east coast viewers won’t be staying up too late.
Jimmy Kimmel will be returning to host the show.
What do you think of this time difference? Should they have gone even further with that? Are you looking forward to the ceremony itself? Let us know down below!
