Peacemaker release in Britain and India update from James Gunn! If you are from either the U.K. (like me) or India, then you are probably wondering when you are going to get to watch Peacemaker. For everyone else, the HBO Max show releases this Thursday, January 13th. Or at least the first three episodes drop and it’s then a weekly release. Currently there is no release date, nor even platforms announced for either of the aforementioned Nations. Which sucks, but, hey, it’s not James Gunn’s fault. The director recently took to social media to explain sadly they don’t have a date yet, and he’s sorry about that, but he’s doing all he can to rectify it.

I certainly won’t speak for India, but I’m not 100% sure what the problem is in the U.K.? Ok, so Britain has no HBO Max, that’s problem number one. However, the most popular paid TV subscription service in the U.K. currently is Sky TV. Sky is owned now by the same company that owns HBO Max. Therefore, up until now, HBO content has been shown on a special channel called Sky Atlantic, which also costs a little extra. Fact is, right now I think this about the only thing keeping me having a Sky subscription at all. The big streaming giants are taking over and I would never consider subscribing to Sky Movies or anything like that these days. Atlantic does not just show HBO content, it also will show shows from the likes of Showtime also.

However a Sky spokesperson has already said there are no plans for Peacemaker to appear on Sky TV. Curious, but I have no idea what the current plan is. Perhaps Sky is treated differently for some reason to other parts of the business, I genuinely have no idea? Truth is, I think Sky is what’s holding back a U.K. release of HBO Max.
All we can say for now, is what James Gunn has told us. They are working on it, and they hope it will be out “very soon”.
