Prime Video Sets Premiere For Muhammad Ali Series ‘The Greatest’

Prime Video has officially announced the premiere date for The Greatest, the highly anticipated scripted series chronicling the life of boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

The authorized drama will debut on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The announcement was made during a special first-look presentation at the ESSENCE Festival of Culture®, where attendees were treated to the debut of the series’ first teaser trailer. The event was moderated by ESPN and ABC News journalist Kelley Carter and featured creator, showrunner, and executive producer Ben Watkins alongside series star Jaalen Best, who portrays Cassius Clay and Muhammad Ali.

Also appearing during the panel were cast members Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham, and Michael Ealy, who discussed bringing one of the most influential figures in sports and American history to television.

Unlike previous dramatizations of the heavyweight champion’s life, The Greatest is the first authorized scripted series about Muhammad Ali. The project is executive produced by Lonnie Ali, the late champion’s widow, providing the production with unique insight into Ali’s personal journey and legacy.

According to Prime Video, the series goes beyond Ali’s legendary accomplishments inside the boxing ring to explore the man behind the global icon. While his historic fights remain an important part of the story, The Greatest also examines his humanitarian work, personal convictions, family life, and the cultural impact he had around the world.

Jaalen Best takes on the challenging role of portraying Ali throughout his transformation from young boxing prodigy Cassius Clay into one of the most recognizable and influential athletes in history. The series follows his rise to international fame while highlighting the moments that defined his career both inside and outside the ring.

Ben Watkins serves as creator, showrunner, and executive producer, leading a production that aims to offer audiences an intimate look at the life of a man whose influence extended far beyond sports.

With the backing of Muhammad Ali’s family and an emphasis on authenticity, The Greatest looks to present a fresh perspective on one of the 20th century’s most celebrated figures.

The Greatest premieres November 4, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
