Ryan Reynolds Says They’re Working On Deadpool 3, Will Go In Completely Different Direction

The world over at 20th Century Fox is about as uncertain as ever at this moment. They’re about ready to be absorbed by the House of Mouse and the state of the properties licensed by Fox are in some sort of purgatory. There are rumors of a canceled X-Force, and this all seems to point to one thing: Disney is ready to bring EVERYTHING back to Marvel Studios. But does this include the likes of Deadpool?

Well, at this point, who knows? But regardless of how things will eventually shake out, it looks like Ryan Reynolds is at least hard at work at bringing a third Deadpool to the big screen, as he revealed while visiting Beijing. But what can audiences actually expect from the film? Will it be more of the same?

Reynolds told audiences that they are “looking to go in a completely different direction. [Franchises often] reboot or change a character may like four movies too late.”

Sadly, this doesn’t really tell us much about the state of X-Force, and at this point, it’s hard to say whether or not it’s actually been canceled. that being said, Reynolds’ comments are interesting, since when last we heard he was unsure about bringing the character back for a third standalone film. In his opinion, Deadpool works best when he’s lost everything, and you can only do that so many times before it gets old.

So, with that in mind, it makes sense they’d feel the need to “reboot” the character — though who knows what they actually mean by that.
