Shia LeBeouf Got Real Ink, Actual Permanent Tattoos For His Tax Collector Role

It appears as Shia LeBeouf has thrown his hat in the coliseum of method acting by getting his chest extensively tattooed for his role as “Creeper” in The Tax Collector. LeBeouf is no stranger to eccentricity, some have even referred to his off-camera antics with harsher words. The film’s director, David Ayer recently spoke to /Film about Lebeouf’s level of commitment to the role. You can check out what he had to say below.

“He’s one of the best actors I’ve worked with, and he’s the most committed to body and soul. He had a tooth pulled on Fury, and then on Tax Collector, he got his whole chest tattooed. So he kind of goes all in, and I’ve never known anyone that committed.”

While I’m not sure how the tattoos compare to Bale’s extreme weight loss, but those are some extensive tattoos and I wonder if they will ever be an issue with future roles. Thinking about it, I guess they could CG the tats off of LeBeouf if it ever came down to being necessary.

Actors have gone to great lengths to fully lose themselves in a role. In his Oscar-winning role in the film My Left Foot, Daniel Day-Lewis did not leave his character’s wheelchair and eventually broke two ribs due to complications from his dedication.

Christian Bale has also made some amazing transformations that bordered on unhealthy. Yes, I’m talking about The Machinist. Bale also disappeared into and was nearly unrecognizable as former Vice President Dick Cheney in the film Vice. Again with what can’t be a good fluctuation in body size, this time gaining weight. Coincidentally, Bale played a similar haracter to Lebeouf’s in another David Ayer film, Harsh Times.

Would you ever get permanent tats for a movie role as Shia Lebeouf did, or perhaps go all out for the character in another way? Sound off in the comments down below!
