So, Bad Moms Is Getting A Third Film…

I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn’t expecting much from Bad Moms. Against my expectations, it managed to be a pretty solid, if not predictable comedy. If you were in a bad mood, there was a good chance the movie could be the cure for your particular ailment. Sadly, its sequel, A Bad Moms Christmas, wasn’t so good. More than anything, it was just a montage of seemingly-improv’d scenes with only a rough outline of a script available. But, you know, that’s okay, I could just pretend that film existed and enjoy what I did from that first movie, right?

Apparently not. According to TheWrap, at this year’s CinemaCon, STX Entertainment announced that there would be a third movie in the franchise titled Bad Moms’ Moms, with actors Cheryl Hines, Susan Sarandon and Christine Baranski reprising their roles as the titular moms’ moms, who we met in that previously-mentioned, yet still awful sequel, A Bad Moms Christmas.

While the report from TheWrap didn’t explicitly state it, but it sounds like this will be more of a spin-off than a sequel, with the older moms taking the lead here from that second movie. That’s an odd to me as the core trio of Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn, and Kristen Bell are part of what made that first movie so enjoyable. If those three aren’t in the movie, what can the other three moms bring that was missing from the previous film.

That being said, I could be wrong here, and we could end up with a movie that features all six of them. That would make more sense to me, personally, especially since the last two movies were already made for less than $30 million apiece, and both managed to gross more than $130 million worldwide.
