Sony Pictures Announces More Film Delays Including Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Morbius

It looks like it’s going to be a rough couple of months for Hollywood. It seems like every day we learn that it’s going to take longer and longer to get back to “normal”. This normal of course includes movie theaters. Now studios are scrambling to either put films off until a future date in the fall or even 2021. Today we have an update from Sony Pictures and their plans.

Due to the uncertain times Sony Pictures has decided to push back various films. Ghostbusters: Afterlife has been moved from July 10th, 2020 to March 5th, 2021. Sony’s next Marvel film Morbius has moved from July 31st, 2020 to March 19th, 2021. These date changes have been shared via Collider.

Uncharted has moved from March 5th, 2021 to October 8th, 2021. The Tom Hanks war film Greyhound that was supposed to hit theaters on June 12th, 2020 and an Untitled Sony Marvel film that was scheduled for October 8th, 2021 have both been un-dated.

Even if theaters were to open back up in the next month or so it would be too soon for certain releases. They need time for marketing to build up hype. Not to mention the economy is going to need some time to heal before people can once again spend their money at the theaters.
