Multitalented performer, Taika Waititi, is set to take on Adolf Hitler. Well, actually he is going to be playing an imaginary version of Hitler in the upcoming film Jojo Rabbit. Waititi will also write and direct the film Fox Searchlight (which will likely be owned by Disney upon release, though the jury’s still out on that) pictures. Waititi says that while he will be playing one of the worst figures in the history of the world, it’s not the same Hitler:
“It’s my version of… a lonely boy’s best version of his hero, which is really his dad. This is not the Adolf we know and hate, this guy is goofy, charming, and glides through life with a child- like naivety”

An official synopsis follows below, as given for the 2012 Black List:
“After being severely hurt by a grenade at Hitler youth camp, a prideful and nationalistic ten-year old boy discovers that his mother is hiding a fifteen year old Jewish girl in their house.”
I have to say this film has peaked my interest, Waititi has a special brand of humor and if anyone can turn Hitler into a lovable character, it’s him. This isn’t the first time Waititi has taken on unusual subject matter, as he co-wrote, co-directed, and co-starred in the 2014 vampire mockumentary, What We Do In The Shadows.
