With rumors flying around lately (although debunked) about the next actor to play Bond, the man who revitalized the 007 franchise, Pierce Brosnan, recently spoke with dailymail about how the film makers have used Daniel Craig’s version to change the character of the world’s most famous spy.
“It is different now. They had strong competition and they haven’t reinvented it but given it a much more muscular, dynamic twist. When I played him you have to let the audience in that this is a fantastic joke – this man, jumping off a motorcycle and catching up a plane, is completely preposterous. But for me you had to let them in. That’s what I was brought up with. Sean (Connery) did it, Roger (Moore) did it par excellence.”

Agreed some of the action sequences in the 007 films are unbelievable, but that could be said for most any action movie. The difference is, with Bond, we viewers go into the film knowing the capabilities of the character and these type of over the top scenes are more easily digestible.
Even before I seen a Bond film, I had a representation of the character in my head, what he looked like, his personality, simply from references on other television shows.about he character. And for the most part Pierce Brosnan matched up perfectly. I watched the old Connery and Moore films not long after, but they didn’t really stick. Craig is great, but there is a huge amount of nostalgia for me in the Brosnan films, and a huge part of that comes form the N64 game Goldeneye (still one of the best games of all time).
