Zack Snyder Wanted To Kill Batman In Justice League 2?

By this point, based on everything we’ve heard, it’s clear that Zack Snyder had a very specific vision of the DC Extended Universe. In fact, it feels like he really didn’t have a universe in mind as much as he had a series of films that consisted of team-ups that spawned from Man of Steel. Of course, we had that first film, then Batman v Superman, but the plan was to then go to Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2.

From the sound of it, Justice League Part 1 would have likely led to Superman becoming the beacon of hope he’s known as in the comics, but if we’re to believe a little something from his vague comments on Vero, his continued work on the films may have led to something tragic. A fan shared a photo of Superman holding a dead Batman in his arms, along with the caption “What we may have seen in the 5 story arc…”

Snyder’s response was, “Of course,” as we can see in the image below:

In all honesty, this sounds about right from things we’ve heard in the past. From what we know, Ben Affleck’s involvement in the DCEU had a time frame attached to it. Unlike actors in the MCU, Affleck was opting for a handful of films done really quick before jumping out altogether. In fact, I’d even heard that the studio was hoping to go for a Batman Beyond-esque continuation after Justice League Part 2.

However, with the negative reception of Batman v Superman, that planned already seemed to be on course to change. It’s no wonder that Ben Affleck had become so wishy-washy about his involvement — the original plan was going to change, and he may have been worried about being forced to extend his contract.

Of course, that last part is speculation based on the inside buzz I’d heard at the time (keep in mind, this was over two years ago), so we’ll never truly know, but it is pretty interesting.
