A Wrinkle In Time Director Ava DuVernay Not Interested In Helming A Star Wars Film
Ever since 2014’s Selma hit theaters, Ava DuVernay became a big name to watch out for. Soon after, she signed on to the upcoming Disney film A Wrinkle in Time, but one other big movie franchise some have hoped to see her attached to is Star Wars.
But would she ever be willing to take on a Star Wars film? While it’s impossible to say never (you never know what the future holds, right?), it sounds like, as of right now, DuVernay isn’t interested on visiting a galaxy far, far away.
Here’s what she said in a tweet:
Star Wars is not for me. But, very happy you dug WRINKLE IN TIME. xo https://t.co/CcrhVbY5hT

Luckily, if you want to see her skills behind the camera in a big-budget film, A Wrinkle in Time is set to hit theaters this coming weekend. While overall reviews (even among the LRM staff) are mixed at best (it’s currently sitting at 47 percent on Rotten Tomatoes), there seems to be a consensus that a lot of hard work and a unique vision went into the film, in spite of its shortcomings. Very clearly, she and her crew were working to bring something unique to the big screen, and it may have backfired.
Had you hoped to see DuVernay take on a Star Wars film in the future? If not, is there another big franchise you’d like to see her attached to? Let us know all your thoughts down below!
