Avengers: Infinity War – Robert Downey Jr. And Screenwriter Promise Deaths

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been an unprecedented thrill ride, the stakes haven’t always been there. Sure, we’ve seen some folks like Quicksilver and Yondu bite the dust, but in regards to our main heroes, pretty much everyone has had the privilege to stick around virtually unchecked, and it’s made some of the films a bit toothless.

But don’t worry, it sounds like Avengers: Infinity War is set to change that. Speaking with EW, Robert Downey Jr. discussed their filmmakers, and their intent to really go all-out for the upcoming team-up.

“We’re going to pull out the stops, and stop exploring conventions, and look to do stuff where we go, ‘Oh, but if we do that, that’s very, very definitive.’ Well, great, let’s get definitive for a change! We’re like a family now. Ten years later, we’re hanging out and having lunch, and kind of wondering when the draft is going to come in. Which one of us bites it and when?”

Of course, this can be a bunch of lip service, right? It’s possible. But one of the writers, Stephen McFeely, has all but promised that this film will mark the end for some of our heroes.

“It’s safe to say we will say farewell to people.”

However, it’s hard not to look at the original Infinity Gauntlet storyline with a bit of skepticism. In that comic, everyone dies, but are eventually brought back to life. Can we expect a similar reversal in Avengers 4 that will, once again, remove the teeth from the saga?
