Black Panther Is The Most Tweeted About Movie Of All Time
While the box office is an important, key indicator of how a film is being received by audiences, it’s not the only one that can help gauge the impact of a film. Of course, its critical reception is key in determining its place in the pantheon of films from a storytelling and filmmaking perspective (or its a way to contrast how a film was initially received with how it was received much later on), but we can’t rule out its online buzz.
So how did Black Panther fare on that front? Very, very well, as it turns out. In fact, according to a report from Variety, Black Panther is now the most tweeted about movie of all time. More specifically, it’s been tweeted about more than 35 million times. It even passed up Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which respectively now hold the No. 2 and No. 3 spots on the list.

The hashtags that are mostly associated with the film are #BlackPanther, #WakandaForever, and #Wakanda. Furthermore, the most tweeted characters are Black Panther, Killmonger, and Shuri — no surprise there, as they were the most popular for a lot of viewers in the actual film.
This goes to show that, in addition to being such a box office juggernaut, it is also a legitimate cultural phenomenon. Will Avengers: Infinity War manage to usurp Black Panther later this year? I’d be surprised if it didn’t.
