News dropped late Friday that Disney has moved around dates for Marvel films post-Secret Wars and added some new dates. So far none of these dates have any specifically titled movies attached to them, though we do have a fair idea of what one or two of could be. It’s not just Marvel dates Disney have moved around as you’ll see below.
As per Deadline,
‘Disney is claiming theatrical date turf for several untitled pics in 2028 and into 2029. No guidance on what future titles will fall on which dates from the studio, which updated its calendar Friday.’
‘An untitled Marvel title previously dated on February 18, 2028 now moves to July 28 that year.’
‘An untitled Disney movie previously dated on July 28, 2028 moves to February 18, 2028. In addition, the studio is calling dibs on November 10, 2028 for another Disney movie.’
‘The November 10, 2028 date that was being held for an untitled Marvel movie is no longer on the schedule.’
‘In 2029 untitled Disney pics are on hold for the following dates: Feb. 16, March 9, May 25, Aug. 3, Oct. 5 and Nov. 9.’
‘Also in 2029 there are two Marvel Studios movies on the calendar, May 4 and July 13. A Disney Animation movie will bow on June 15, 2029, while a Pixar movie is set for Nov. 21, 2029.’

So the film formerly coming February, 2028 will now be in July of the same year. Given Secret Wars releases in December, 2027, it’s unlikely there’s another film between Secret Wars and this July, 28′ film.
So what comes next after Secret Wars? We don’t know for certain, but we can probably guess one of two films. Either Jake Schreier’s X-Men reboot, or Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther 3. Both seem like the only currently known films in active development that could make this date. Unless of course something we don’t know about is even farther along?
For what’s worth, insider Jeff Sneider reacted to this news with a hint it could be Black Panther 3 that moves from February to July.

However, I think most of us in the industry had the feeling that X-Men would arrive before BP3 does. We now don’t have a November, 2028 film on the calendar. Therefore, for now that July film is the only Marvel movie in 28′. Which would mean one of X-Men of BP3 not arriving until May of 2029.
I guess we will maybe find out sometime later this year? What do you think of these Marvel date moves and new slots added for 2029? Thoughts below as always.
