Who would’ve guessed that a mid-budget film about a bunch of street racers stealing DVD players would eventually evolve into one of the biggest film franchises on the planet. The antics may be high-flying, the physics nonexistent, and story nonsensical, but for the past several movies, they’ve managed to billions on vehicular spectacle mixed in with some spy antics.
It only makes sense that the studio would eventually want to take things to the next level — the next level being on the small screen. Interestingly enough, rather than go live-action, they’ve opted to turn to the medium of animation to tell the story of Fast & Furious: Spy Racers. Check out the teaser trailer below:

There is little known about the story of this series, but we DO know it will feature a “new family,” so don’t expect Dom and crew to be central figures (though I wouldn’t rule out a cameo or random crossover). Regardless, with Hobbs & Shaw also on the way, 2019 is the year Universal goes all-in on Fast & Furious.
I’ll admit, I have the same reservations here as I do with the Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous series. In animated form, will it be allowed to be as dark and violent as its film counterparts? In theory, it shouldn’t matter, so long as it’s on-brand, but in the States, anything that’s not labeled an adult comedy sitcom is usually relegated to a younger audience, so we’ll see.
