Season 3 may be the last for Daredevil: Born Again, but it does see the return of many defenders. In a recent interview Finn Jones opens up on reprising his role as Danny Rand, who’s changed since we last saw him. Jones of course returns alongside Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and Mike Colter as Luke Cage, who both came back in Season 2 to reunite the Defenders.
Speaking with IGN, Jones talks about coming back for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. Transcript below video.
“I’m just so grateful for the level of attention that’s been put into the character. To not play a character for 10 years and then come back after all that time, for an actor that’s really… it’s a wonderful gift, personally. People grow a lot in 10 years and as an actor you grow a lot and characters grow a lot as well, so to come back with all of that kind of story and to bring that forward into this, it’s kind of like a new version of Danny Rand or more of an evolved, grown up version. It’s really fun, so fun.”
As for where Jones thinks Rand has been this past decade?
“I’ve got my own imagination. So my imagination runs wild when it comes to Danny. I think he’s been around the world in various different secret orders, probably down in ancient ruins in South America and in Asia, and really honing his craft. I think he’s gone through a lot of grief and a lot of joy, and I think that’s really forged the Danny that we will get to see showing up in Daredevil : Born Again Season 3. And that’s all my own backstory.”

“That’s just where I believe the character has been, and then what we see in the show is a culmination of that very grounded and just a different quality to him, which is a joy to play. I mean, it was so charged, you know, like a lot of anticipation. So there were definitely nerves, but there was also a lot of excitement. I think when you’re in that kind of environment, it allows you to really sharpen and focus on what you want to bring, so it just feels very dynamic.”
On reuniting with the other Defenders,
“Being with these guys again there’s such a great chemistry between all four of us that you can really just relax into the dynamic that’s between us all. And the way that they’ve written Danny this year, I’m just so grateful for the level of attention that’s been put into the character.”
“I remember getting the scripts and I was just like, ‘I got no notes, I’m just ready to show up and give my all.’ And I have to say the stunt team working with Philip Silvera and his team have been really… they are the best. They are the best, and I’m so grateful to have them be so supportive and so imaginative bringing Danny Rand back into the MCU.”
Are you happy to see Jones, Ritter and Colter back for Born Again Season 3? I think it sucks a little that they bring the gang back and then cancel the show, but there we have it. Leave any thoughts below.
