Anime Expo 2026 got a first look at the characters from the anticipated video game-to-anime adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima.
During the Crunchyroll panel at Anime Expo 2026, fans got an early look at characters including Kenshiro, Jagi, Toki, and Raoh.
The series will be directed by Takanobu Mizuno with Satoshi Maejima (Nitro Plus) and Gen Urobuchi (Nitro Plus) writing the script. Urobuchi is also handling the story composition. Takashi Okazaki will be providing the character designs with Kaikaze Douga producing the animation.
Here is the brief description of the series:
Ghost of Tsushima follows one of the last remaining samurai as he defends his homeland of Tsushima against the Mongol Empire.

The video game was published in 2020 by Sony Interactive Entertainment and follows a player-controlled character of Jin Sakai.
Here is the official synopsis of the video game:
The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan—until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population. As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But honorable tactics won’t lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting—the way of the Ghost—as you wage an unconventional war for freedom of Japan.
The video game itself sold over 13 million units by September 2024. It received numerous awards that included the Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2020 and the 24th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards. The sequel Ghost of Yōtei was released in October 2025.
As for the anime series, production details and the premiere date will be announced at a later time.
