Gotham Knights Game Delayed Till 2022

The upcoming Gotham Knights game is delayed till 2022. The game from WB Games Montreal was originally set to release this year. However, as is quite common within the video game industry right now, the game has been delayed. Check out the official Twitter post below.

If you don’t know what to expect from Gotham Knights let me try to summarize it. Imagine the combat and style of the Batman: Arkham games, but with a co-op RPG system allowing you to team up, gear up and take down big bosses. I’m guessing a cross between Destiny, Marvel’s Avengers, and the Arkham games. Players would control the likes of Robin, Red Hood, Batgirl and more as they work together to take down classic DC villains.

You can find a dedicated article below fully dipping into what Gotham Knights offers. Useful if this is the first time you are hearing of the Gotham Knights.

Like all games I never worry about delays. In fact, in my opinion more and more games should be getting delayed because far too many release in an unfinished state leading to failure. Marvel’s Avengers are trying to claw back a player base after their base game was riddled with bugs and more criminally had boring gameplay. Amazingly by the time I finished the campaign on Marvel’s Avengers I was bored to tears of the repetitive combat, even if the story was ok.

I’m guessing like all GAAS games, Gotham Knights will be all about the endgame. After you beat the story and start levelling up with friends, that’s when a GAAS game should come alive. You’ll be playing content you already have, but far more difficult and able to test the new skills and more powerful builds you have earned. However, when it comes to console games, I have only really come across two successes so far. Destiny and The Division. Both of these games have had various issues in their lifetimes. Overall though, the gameplay loops are addictive enough that with improvements, the player base remained active.

The worst example is probably Anthem. Anthem at it’s core is a great idea and kinda fun to play. However it was never supported, and now Anthem is dead. Marvel’s Avengers are trying to avoid a similar fate to Anthem, which is even more staggering for a license that uses Marvel characters. Recent updates have improved the game, but enough to bring players back, I’m not so sure.

Let’s hope Gotham Knights is one of the success stories. Perhaps a delay till next year will help on that front? Any thoughts on the Gotham Knights game delayed news, leave them in the usual place below.
