His Dark Materials Season 2 Episode Guide: First Five Episodes

His Dark Materials Season 2 episode guide. Read on for more details

His Dark Materials Season 2 is almost upon us. Well, for myself in the U.K. it’s a little bit earlier than those watching through HBO. Either way, it’s not long to go. Yesterday HBO released an Episode guide for Season 2, though only the first five episodes of what will be a seven Episode Season. Perhaps HBO are saving some secrets for those final two episodes? Though, for readers of Phillip Pullman’s work, we already know what happens in the climax of the second book in the trilogy.

There was a planned eighth episode in Season 2. This eighth episode would have centered on James McAvoy’s Lord Asriel character and what he has been up to during the events of Season 2. Asriel will not actually feature elsewhere in Season 2 (if it follows the book). However Asriel is a major player in Season 3, and I assume the idea was to set up Asriel’s story before Season 3 began. I do hope if Season 3 gets the green light that the showrunners will begin Season 3 with that planned Asriel episode, but that remains to be seen. So let’s see what HBO has to say about those first five episodes shall we?

I could of course provide spoilers for everything that happens in Season 2, bar any small adaptation changes. However no one wants to read that. For those following the story for the first time on TV, feel free to get speculative about the events of Season 2. However, I wish you luck guessing what happens next. Book 2, The Subtle Knife and thus Season 2 takes some unexpected twists and turns.

For those in the U.K. Season 2 will premier in Sunday, November 8th on BBC One. Share your thoughts on His Dark Materials Season 2 episode guide in the usual spot, see you on Citagazze in a few weeks.
