DC Studios boss James Gunn confirms he has the script for The Batman Part II and he says it’s great. We know this script has been a long time coming, but last week writer/director Matt Reeves and writing partner Mattson Tomlin posted what looked like a finished script on social media. Now Gunn confirms he does have the script for the sequel to The Batman starring Robert Pattinson.
As per Deadline,
‘On the red carpet of Monday’s Superman world premiere, the writer and director kept it brief as he confirmed to reporters that he’s read Reeves’ long-anticipated script for The Batman Part II.’
‘“It’s great,” said Gunn after Reeves shared a photo of the completed script’s cover page last month, donning the Batman symbol.’

The Batman Part II is due to begin filming sometime this year and the release date is still set for Oct. 1, 2027. We have been told previously by actor Colin Farrell, that his character appears in Part II. However, Penguin’s not the main focus of Batman’s attentions he says of the sequel. It seems unlikely Reeves basic idea will have changed that dramatically during the scripting phase.
This ReevesVerse is being set up as a trilogy of sorts by all accounts. Therefore, I imagine if Part II does well, we will get a Part III. That of course will have to coincide with another version of Batman donning the cape and cowl. A version specifically for the more interconnected DCU, of which Superman is the first film.
What are hoping for with The Batman Part II as James Gunn confirms he has a script? Thoughts below as always.
