Today, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens to what should be sold-out theaters nationwide. The film is a direct sequel continuing with the storyline from 2015’s Jurassic World, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Also featured in the film will be Jurassic Park veteran Jeff Goldblum, reprising his role as mathematician/chaotician Dr. Ian Malcolm, the man who predicted the downfall of billionaire entrepreneur John Hammond’s science experiment zoo.
Just this week, Goldblum spoke with LRM regarding his character, the original film and what it was like returning to the franchise. He especially spoke favorably about the film’s director, JA Boyona.
As I was thinking about getting my experience back then, I made two movies with Steven Spielberg and I love that book by Michael Crichton–I still love that character. I think he’s an interesting thinker and has passionate feelings about issues that are of interest to us in real life. I knew that JA Bayona was going to direct it and I was thrilled to do anything with him. I’ve been a fan of all his movies. Colin Trevorrow, who wrote and directed the last Jurassic World, was writing this one. I was thrilled about that. I thought it was exciting.

JA Bayona assumed the director’s chair after Jurassic World’s Colin Trevorrow decided to focus on writing the script for the sequel with Derek Connolly. Bayona’s directing credits include The Orphanage, The Impossible, episodes of Penny Dreadful and A Monster Calls.
In this film, Pratt’s Owen Grady and Howard’s Claire Dearing lead a rescue mission to save the dinosaurs on the island before the formerly dormant, now extremely active volcano threatens to wipe out the animals.
