Kenobi Release Date Pushed Back Possibly For Star Wars Celebration

Well, those Obi-Wan Kenobi posters have just gone up in value with their May 25th Premiere Date on them.  Just a month after announcing the premiere date of the highly anticipated series, we have a change.  In a video shared across all social media, Ewan McGregor announced that Obi-Wan Kenobi’s premiere date has been pushed back two days from May 25th to May 27th.  In some more exciting news instead of just the first episode premiering, the first two episodes would be available on Disney+. Check out the announcement below.

The change in dates is very suspicious given that Star Wars Celebration begins on Thursday, May 26th. From what we have heard for a while is there will be a big celebration of the series at the 4-day convention.  The plan we had initially heard is there would be a panel with the main actors along with a screening of the first episode.

The issue with the show debuting on May 25th is the panel and screening would have to be on the night of the 24th or the morning of the 25th.  That means conventions directors and security would have to be available and ready before the convention actually kicks off.  With the move in premiere dates now the panel and screening can take place on the first day of the convention.

It would be fair to say that Obi-Wan Kenobi is probably the most hyped new Star Wars project since The Force Awakens. Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Inquisitors, Owen, and Beru Lars, the pieces are there for what could be a great story. Of course, execution is everything and doesn’t always pan out, see the finale of The Book of Boba Fett for an example. So I hope Disney really made sure this show looks like a film rather than a TV series. There will 100% be fans who hate episode 1 of Obi-Wan Kenobi and declare Star Wars is dead. The question is rather which side of the fence will you fall on. I’ll be astounded if all Star Wars fans love something because everyone seems to want different things from Star Wars these days.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will be available exclusively on Disney+. Leave any thoughts below on the Obi-Wan Kenobi release date change.
