Some Lanterns news as Sinestro actor Ulrich Thomsen is up for more in future and Manhunter actor [SPOILER] didn’t even know who they were playing. Folks, this is my first and last spoiler tag for this article. If you have been watching Lanterns you are aware part of the mystery is, who is the Manhunter? Well Episode 4 revealed that detail, so if you are not caught up, go watch Episode 4 first, then read this.
However, let’s start with actor Ulrich Thomsen who plays Sinestro on the show. So far it has been a small, but very important part for Thomsen to play. There is (with a villain this well known), always going to be a suggestion of more to come from him down the line, in film or TV.
Sinestro
Speaking with TheWrap, Thomsen says he’s absolutely up for playing more Sinestro down the line.
“I’m ready to dig in,” Thomsen told TheWrap at the “Lanterns” premiere. “It’s a great world. It’s a great take on the Lanterns, I think. Bring it on. I’m ready.”
“I read the scripts and I read about him, Sinestro. I didn’t know so much about it, and I look at him, and I go, wow,” Thomsen laughed. “That guy would sell himself, the way he looks and all that.”
“It’s inherent in the scenes, I thought,” Thomsen said of Hal and Sinestro’s friendship. “It’s just great drama, you know? You have your best of enemies, right, and that’s always fun. But in order to play that, it should be in the scenes. Otherwise it would be difficult. But it was well written that way.”
Thomsen definitely has me wishing for more from Sinestro and Hal. Though, will we even have a Hal by the end of the Season? I guess I’ll just wait and find out, but we know Lanterns Season 2 is definitely being prepped pending a green light.
The actor talked a little more in the interview about the makeup process and no comparing himself to Mark Strong’s take from the movie, before leaving with this.
“There’s so much more to explore, who he is. I mean just the name — Sinestro — right?” he said. “I’m ready to get in there, man, for sure.”
The Manhunter
Now we know who the Manhunter is, Poorna Jagannathan spoke with EW and explains she didn’t even know she was the Manhunter initially.
“I wasn’t told when I got the role that she was the Manhunter. I had to read it to find that out,” the actress, recently cast in Big Mistakes season 2, shares with Entertainment Weekly. “I was blindsided like you have never seen me. I was shocked. I think part of the reason I was so blindsided is I just assumed it’d be a man. And when I died the first time in the car, I was like, ‘Oh okay. Yep, makes sense. I died in worse ways. No problem. Bye bye. Thank you for having me.’”
I do wonder if there’s perhaps a little spoiler in here folks, because she says, “when I died the first time in the car.” Which logically would mean there is second death to come. Yet, I think 95% of the audience probably predicted Jagannathan’s character wasn’t making it into a Season 2. I still have no clue what is going to happen next, so I’m good.
Garret Dillahunt, who plays William Macon, one of the prime suspects to be the Manhunter said, “We knew someone was the Manhunter, and I knew it wasn’t me.”

“It really blew me away that I’d be cast in something like this or they saw me as something like this,” Jagannathan says. “The truth is they really tried to humanize this Manhunter, who is a victim of what the Guardians have created, a victim of her programming, a victim of perception. So they really wanted this Manhunter to feel human emotions, and yet her programming will always get the better of her, even at times that she doesn’t want it. So I was struck by how much humanity they imbued in even the character that’s supposed to be the most evil.”
“She basically identifies her biggest threat and will have sex with them. Do you know what I mean? That’s her MO,” Jagannathan explains. “She will initiate the most intimate relationship with a person who has anything to do with her extinction, and she will flip them. Everything in hindsight becomes so much more strategic. And along the way, Aaron becomes more than just a strategic move on the chessboard. He becomes more to her, so much so that, I don’t know if you caught it, but in 4, she actually tells John Stewart who she is.”
In the aftermath of their latest tryst in John’s motel room, as they’re lying in bed, Zoe admits she was the one who saved Macon’s life back in the day. “That’s her way of showing John that it is me and there’s nothing to be afraid of and I’m not a threat, so just go home,” the actress continues. “So, yeah, it reframed everything for me.”
