Mando Season 4 Movie Is Not The Current Plan | Barside Buzz

The Mandalorian season 3

According to a new rumor, and our own sources here at LRM, the rumored Mando Season 4 movie is not the current plan at Lucasfilm. Recently we shared a rumor from a good source that said Lucasfilm execs were discussing the possibility of converting the already written Mandalorian Season 4 into a movie. You can catch the full story in the related article below. I have to say, at the time I expressed serious doubts about this for reasons I could not get my head round.

Since then an insider I trust has good sources at Lucasfilm has also weighed in. BSL has said they’ve heard a movie is not the current plan. Check out the social media post below.

Now to add to this, we asked our own source at Lucasfilm after the initial report from MSW. What we were told was that this was discussed, but as a nuclear option. In other words, like BSL we were told the current plan remains to film Mando Season 4 as a TV series for Disney+. Our source never gave us any details on what would prompt them to press go on the nuclear option, but they did seem to think it was unlikely to actually happen.

To break all this down, I’m using my own logic here. Nothing other than what I said above is inside information, this is all my guess work. Therefore, my thoughts are that this is, just normal business. A meeting happened where Lucasfilm discussed what they could do if the strikes went on longer than expected. That just makes good business sense to have potential plans for a disaster type situation.

However, unless the strike last a long time, I’m not seeing any good logical reason to turn what is likely around 6 hours worth of scripts into a 2.5 hour movie? I don’t see how this speeds things up in any way? The script would need to be retooled and that can’t happen till the writers strike ends. Equally, no production on a movie can happen any quicker than a TV series. In fact, it would be quicker to set up the production for a TV series. At least the scripts are ready to go.

I cannot of course say for certain how any of this was discussed, or why? All I can say is this, MSW heard there were serious discussions about turning Mando S4 into a movie. BSL doesn’t deny these talks took place, but says he’s heard this is not the current plan. Finally, we here at LRM were told there were discussions. However, only brought up as the nuclear option if all else fails. It’s worth noting MSW never claimed it was definitely happen, just they had heard there were talks.

The rest is up to you to decide how to process this information. Perhaps you disagree with my assessment above and that’s fine because it’s just speculation on my part.

So, according to a new rumor, and our own sources here at LRM, the rumored Mando Season 4 movie is not the current plan at Lucasfilm. Let us know what you think in the usual place below.
