Over the course of the past 11 years, we’ve seen Hulk go through quite the transformation. He transformed from Ed Norton to Mark Ruffalo, and from there, he’s gone from out-of-control monster to sort-of-in-control monster to split-between-monster to now fully-in-control smart Hulk. This is the farthest we’ve seen the character go in any big-screen incarnation, and while he may seem to be going in a general advisory role, that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case.
Marvel Studios has always seemed open to exploring new directions for their characters. Thor is a prime example of that, as we have seen him go from super serious Shakespearean god of thunder to the current bro god of thunder. So, what more can we see from Hulk?
“Kevin Feige just asked me last week if I had any more ideas or stories for the Hulk,” Ruffalo said at Tokyo Comic-Con recently (via ComicBook.com). “And I said yeah, I think there’s still some stories to tell. And he said, ‘Well why don’t you come in and tell me about them and we’ll see if we can find a place for you in the Marvel universe?’”

So, if given the choice, what would he like to see?
“Hulk vs. Wolverine,” Ruffalo said. “I’d like to see that. Hulk vs. Wolverine.”
Of course, Hulk has taken on Wolverine in the past. In fact, Wolverine was introduced to the world in The Incredible Hulk #181 in 1974, where he took on both Hulk and Wendigo. since then, we’ve seen this happen in the six-issue Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk and even in the animated movie Hulk vs. Wolverine.
While Wolverine has been off-limits for years, the recent Fox acquisition has made such a pairing possible, and could line up with rumors months ago revolving around Wolverine joining the Avengers in some capacity in the near future.
