With Captain Marvel out in theaters this week (I am seeing it Friday night and can’t wait), it seems a little early to start thinking about sequels. Of course, that’s as far as us fans are concerned, but for the folks over at Marvel Studios, they have to start thinking about what comes next far before they ever give any hints to us of what’s to come.
So it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise to know that Kevin Feige is already thinking about what a Captain Marvel sequel could look like. Speaking with Screen Rant recently the Marvel Studios head said that Carol could have a “Pretty amazing” future.
“The making of a first film is in some ways a brainstorm on the future and on what can be. So what it will be again is not clear. But what it could be is pretty amazing.”
Well, any film could be pretty amazing with the right story and the right ideas and the right direction, but there is never any guarantee. First thing first for Marvel, let’s see how audiences react to the first Carol Danvers feature before anyone starts thinking seriously about a sequel. Perhaps next Monday I will be in a better position to imagine where a sequel could go, but right now I cannot fathom that without having seen Captain Marvel. Then again, it might be only after Avengers: Endgame when we next see Carol that we can predict and speculate on where a sequel could go.

One thing seems certain, Marvel will push ahead with a sequel to Captain Marvel and when they do, Feige and co. will try and make the best possible film they can. That’s the one thing I like about Marvel movies, some work better than others, but ultimately you can always tell they are trying to make the best movie they can at that time.
