Batman is probably DC’s most popular superhero. Unfortunately, the Warner Bros. rushed him out in Batman V Superman and Justice League where he was played by Ben Affleck, which for me never gave him a fair chance to shine. After Justice League flopped and Warner Bros. was left trying to figure out their superheroes, we were left with so many questions about the future of the Dark Knight. When would we see a solo Batman film? Would Affleck reprise his role?
Well, we know that Matt Reeves has been working on a script for the film and has been set to direct the film. Just recently we got a bunch of information about the upcoming film via an interview Reeves had with The Hollywood Reporter. Today Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. will be releasing the next solo Batman film on June 25th, 2021.

They are also reporting that Affleck will not be returning as the Dark Knight as the film is looking to focus on a younger Bruce Wayne. Affleck will be exiting the DCEU after playing Batman in three films for Warner Bros. including the two mentioned above as well as Suicide Squad. Originally Affleck was even on board to direct a Batman film based on a script he had written with DC’s Geoff Johns.
But don’t feel bad for Affleck as he has a busy schedule producing and starring in an adaptation of Kate Alice Marshall’s I Am Still Alive from Universal as well as starring in Gavin O’Connor’s drama Torrance. Upon the release of this news Affleck posted the following tweet:
Excited for #TheBatman in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life. https://t.co/GNgyJroMIO
