It’s another Freaky Friday film.
Based on Victoria Strause’s children’s book titled “Bedtime For Mommy,” Family Switch is a body-swapping comedy in the vein of Freaky Friday that switches the parents with their children.
The film stars Jennifer Garner (Alias), Ed Helms (The Hangover), Emma Myers (Wednesday), Brady Noon (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem), Bashir Salahuddin (Top Gun: Maverick), Matthias Schweighofer (Army of Thieves), Xosha Roquemore (Precious), Ilia Isorelys Paulino (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Paul Scheer (The League), Fortune Feimster (The Mindy Project), and Rita Moreno (West Side Story). McG (Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle) directed the movie from the adapted screenplay written by Strouse and Adam Sztykiel.
Here is the logline for Family Switch:
Jess and Bill Walker are doing their best to keep their family connected as their children grow older, more independent, and more distant. When a chance encounter with an astrological reader causes the family to wake up to a full body switch, on the morning of the most important day of each of their lives, can the Walkers unite to land a promotion, college interview, record deal, and soccer tryout?

“We hope that it’s suprising and light and more intelligent than you might think. I mean, my favorite way to make movies is to synthesize highbrow and lowbrow, where a kid could watch it and understand what’s going on, but a parent could watch it and ingest the material on a totally different, more sophisticated level, which is something I think Pixar does better than anybody, and I aspire to do that,” said McG in an interview with EW.
It’s a small hill to climb, as the Freaky Friday concept has been redone over and over and over again. Of course, none of those films has a body switch between a baby and a family dog.
A trailer should be released soon from Netflix.
Family Switch streams on Netflix on November 30.
