Today we got a teaser trailer for the new spin-off series on The CW Superman & Lois. We had our first introduction to Superman, played by Tyler Hoechlin, in the Arrowverse Supergirl series. Then later during Crisis on Infinite Earths, we finally got to meet Lois Lane, played by Bitsie Tulloch. Now as we inch closer and closer to the debut of the next season of Arrowverse titles on The CW, let’s take a look at that teaser trailer down below!

The main thing that we can take away from the Superman & Lois trailer is their spotlight on Family. The trailer is made up of a kind of dizzying rotoscoped montage of the life of Lois and Clark. As they grow and gain more responsibility, there is a growing tension that threatens to break their family apart. Of course, Superman is able to stop this from happening and keep everyone together.
“Under the torn fibers is a strong person forged like steel with the courage to fight for those we love,” Hoechlin says. “What was lost can be found in family.”

Although I am not a big fan of Hoechlin for the role of Superman, I am intrigued by their family theme. This is because two of my favorite Superman runs came from the Rebirth relaunch event. In the pages of Superman and Action Comics, Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason, and Dan Jurgens focused a lot on family. We had some amazing father-son moments with Clark and Jonathan. As we as some great Lois and Clark ones too. If you want to see some great family moments that don’t include any crazy scheme from Lex Luther or General Zod, I highly recommend 2016’s Superman #7 and Batman #37 by Tom King.
Yes it’s always exciting to see our superheroes punch the bad guys, but it’s just as important to see their human side. I look forward to see exactly how this first season of Superman and Lois plays out and what roles their children are going to have. While the trailer didn’t show us much about what other characters we can expect. It did show us that it’s probably going to revolve around a big family theme.
