If you wondered what Gurren Lagann and Kill La Kill director would do if given the opportunity to make a film, you really don’t have to wonder any longer. In addition to the over-the-top tone those anime series sported, they also featured some of the most batsh** crazy animation ever. But what if all of that was condensed into a movie?
If you’ve been following the anime biz, you already know that Promare is the natural progression of the style director Hiroyuki Imaishi has crafted with Studio TRIGGER. Take a look at the first full English clip of this mech battle down below!

I have to say, I’m a bit torn on the look. I love the hard-edged look Imaishi has created in his shows, but I’m not sure how I feel about him translating it into CG animation. That being said, it is a step up from older attempts like Appleseed and Expelled From Paradise, as it managed to retain a 2D look in spite of its CG animation.
Regardless, this looks to be a non-stop action-fest that will please hardcore audiences of anime…but will the non-anime community take to it? Probably not. This is as anime as anime gets, but let us know your thoughts down below!
