RUMOR: Matt Reeves’ The Batman May Deal With Jason Todd’s Death

Right now, we have almost zero details regarding director Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman. Back when the film was in Ben Affleck’s hands, the only real detail we had was that Deathstroke would likely be the big bad, but once he stepped down, pretty much everything was left up in the air. The only thing Reeves has since said is that it will likely bring the whole detective aspect of the DC character to life — which is a side that we saw some of in The Dark Knight, but not quite enough.

Now, there’s a rumor from Manabyte that teases what the film may very well be about. According to them, The Batman will follow how a younger Bruce Wayne deals with the death of Jason Todd. In Batman v Superman, we saw Bruce looking at a spray-painted Robin outfit, and it was was a real nod to the Death in the Family story, where the Joker beat Jason with a crowbar before blowing up the building.

But don’t think that this is going to be a Death in the Family adaptation. It will strictly be dealing with how Bruce copes with this. Also, don’t expect it to be a Red Hood story — where Jason Todd comes back as a more vengeful vigilante — that could likely be the sequel (assuming, of course, that any of this is real).

When we see Batman in Batman v Superman and Justice League, he is clearly a hardened shell of a man who’s been through some stuff. With this story, it’ll be interesting to see him turn into that very man we saw in those films.

Since this rumor started circulating, TheWrap has stated that it’s false.
