The James Bond news just keeps on rolling. The past couple months has seen the long-awaited production of Bond 25 slowly ramp up. After god knows how long, it was confirmed that Daniel Craig would indeed be returning to play the iconic 007, however, the actual details surrounding the plot have eluded us. This is obviously for good reason. The film isn’t set to hit theaters for another two-plus years, meaning that the studio has plenty of time to write the script before needing to head to actual production. So why would we have details?
But of course, that doesn’t stop many of the online super-sleuths from working their magic. This latest development comes from the folks over at PageSix. The outlet claims to have a Hollywood insider, and that insider has given them the details surrounding the next entry in the Bond franchise.

According to them, Bond 25 will see James Bond married to Spectre’s Dr. Madeleine Swann, played by Léa Seydoux. Bond will have left the secret service life, and as the film opens the pair will be in the midst of “wedded bliss.” Of course, that won’t last long, and Bond’s wife will meet an untimely end, bringing Bond back into action, hoping to avenge his wife’s death. The source says that the movie is like “Taken with Bond.”
Of course, it’s worth noting that this is just one rumor, and even if it is true, there is plenty of time for them to rework the plot until the film’s eventual release. That being said, it has been rumored that they’d be tackling On Her Majesty’s Secret Service next, and the death of a wife does have shades of that in it.
Honestly, I’m torn by this premise. While I very much enjoy the idea around his motivations being more primal, it does seem like a retread of Quantum of Solace. If you’ll recall, Daniel Craig’s first Bond film, Casino Royale, saw the gentleman spy fall in love with Eva Green’s Vesper Lynd, only to have her killed near the end. Quantum of Solace saw him similarly seeking vengeance for her death. Though while this is a retread, Quantum was decidedly underwhelming, so perhaps this could be them getting that right.
