Solo: A Star Wars Story Was Intended To Lead Star Wars Back To May Releases

Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy brought many changes to the galaxy far, far away. One of the bigger changes didn’t affect any of the characters or the story playing out on screen. Although it did change the kind of attire we fans wore to stand in line for the films.

I am of course referring to Disney moving the most of the films from a May release date, to December. Most of you are well aware that Star Wars films before Disney were always released in the month of May. However, personnel changes during The Force Awakens caused the House of Mouse to push the first film of the trilogy to Christmas time.

As it turns out, the Art of book for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker revealed that the Han Solo, solo film, Solo: A Star Wars Story was set to bring the franchise back to May releases. You can check out an excerpt from the book below.

Solo: A Star Wars Story had been intended to be the first of many Star Wars films to return to the franchise’s traditional late-May release date,”

I didn’t really mind this so much, except for the obvious bummer of having to wait longer for the first film. A lot of folks have family in town during the holidays and it was fun to round up the relatives and all go out to see Star Wars. It quickly became a thing for my family. We would buy some hot chocolate and unnecessarily stand in line for hours in 20-degree weather. All the while conversing with other Star Wars fans as a way to pass the time.
