Of course, that’s all hearsay, and none of that has been fully confirmed by the studio — and it’ll never be confirmed by the studio because that’s just the way the business works. So what was it actually like working with Lord and Miller before Ron Howard was brought in to take care of the rest of filming? Actor Alden Ehrenreich (who was rumored to have flagged the producers to Lord and Miller’s directorial shortcomings during productions) discussed what it was like working with them to Esquire.

“They had a different style than Ron in terms of the way we were working…From the first screen test on, we played around with it a lot. We tried a lot of different things, rethinking behind the scenes. That was yielding a different movie than the other factions wanted. I knew what I was doing, but in terms of what that adds up to, you’re so in the dark as an actor. You don’t know what it’s shaping up to be, how they’re editing it, so it’s kind of impossible without having seen those things to know what the difference [of opinion] was, or exactly what created those differences.”
Obviously, there is no confirmation as to whether or not Ehrenreich actually flagged the producers, but it does sound like he was very much in the dark as to the “why” behind the differences of opinion in regards to characters. This does confirm, however, that they actually were taking Han Solo in a very different direction from what the studio wanted, and that ultimately resulted in them getting fired.
