Someone Deep Faked The Lion King Remake So That It Looks More Like The Cartoon

Okay, first of all, get your mind out of the gutter. This isn’t that kind of deep fake. This is something a lot more whimsical in nature. The Lion King recently hit theaters, and if you’ve been taking a look at the reception it received from critics, a lot of the criticism came from its animation style. In short, it was too realistic-looking — so much so that it was difficult for the characters to emote.

The solution? Well, I’m sure you’ve seen some of those images online where the characters are tweaked so that they better mirror their two-dimensional counterparts. Well, someone took that idea and extended it to video form using deep fake tech, which generally pastes celebrities faces onto other bodies. Check it out below!

So…what do you think? I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest fan. Another big complaint critics had was how closely the film mirrored its animated counterpart, and by adapting the animation to reflect the original, you’re skewing that much closer to it. To a fault, in my opinion.

That being said, while this is a bit weird-looking, if refined, I can see this being a unique animation style. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts down below!
