Hey, guess what, guys! I’m not insane! I love me The Mandalorian theme. In my opinion, it’s the strongest part of the series, and every time it came on, I couldn’t help but feel the need to pull out my six-shooter, pump my fist, and run up the Rocky Steps in Philadelphia. Wait, where did that last feeling come from? Did I seriously hear shades of the Rocky theme in that song?
You’re damn right I did. About two minutes into the theme, we are treated to a bit that feels like it could have been pulled straight out of the Rocky theme. And along the way to that point and following, there’s an unmistakable similarity to the themes that I can’t quite place thanks to my musical illiteracy.

But apparently, I wasn’t alone. One artist, samuelkimmusic on YouTube, took both themes and ran with them. Take a listen.
It’s way better than I could have ever done, though I still can’t quite place what it is about the themes that ring similar to me. Perhaps it’s the brass nature of the instrumentation? I don’t know. I’m a film guy, not a music guy. Can anyone out there tell me what it is about the themes that sound similar to me?
