The Mandalorian Has Exceeded All Expectations, Says Bob Iger

The Mandalorian has managed to stick in the pop culture mindset over the course of the past couple of months, with Baby Yoda making up the lion’s share of online conversations and memeing. In my mind, it also seems to validate this idea that releasing shows week-to-week is the best way for streaming to go in the future, as it keeps the shows in the conversation.

Anyway, with all this in mind, it’s not really a huge surprise to me that this show is apparently doing very well for Star Wars and doing well for the Disney+ brand.

“I think it’s exceeded our expectations — all of our expectations,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said on The Star Wars Show. “But I knew the moment I saw an early cut of the first episode that we had something really special. And I really felt it. I’ve been in the business for 45 years, worked my way up through television mostly [and] remember times throughout my career in television when I saw either a character or an actor playing a character when you just knew.”

He definitely has an eye for what audiences will like. I know a lot of folks here at LRM Online think this show represents the best of the franchise since Disney took over. I don’t necessarily agree with that mindset, as The Mandalorian has been a fun, yet hollow experience for me, but I totally get how viewers have taken to it.

What do you think of Iger’s comments? Has the show exceeded your expectations in quality? Let us know your thoughts down below!
