Taylor Takahashi and Taylour Paige Talk Family Story and Eddie Huang in Boogie [Exclusive Interview]

Boogie is not just a basketball story. It’s a story of dreams and family struggles. That’s something relatable for both Taylor Takahashi and Taylour Paige.

From the directorial debut of Eddie Huang, the film follows the dreams of a young teen as he pursues his love of basketball and someday gets into the big leagues. Being from an Asian family, his parents have different expectations and he struggles with his balance with family, girlfriend, and a rival on the court.

The movie stars Taylor Takahashi, Taylour Paige, Pamelyn Chee, Mike Moh, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Alexa Mareka, Perry Yung, and Pop Smoke. Huang directed and wrote the film.

Here’s the official synopsis:

From acclaimed writer, producer, and restaurateur, Eddie comes with his directorial debut Boogie, the coming-of-age story of Alfred “Boogie” Chin, a basketball phenom living in Queens, New York, who dreams of one day playing in the NBA. While his parents pressure him to focus on earning a scholarship to an elite college, Boogie must find a way to navigate a new girlfriend, high school, on-court rivals, and the burden of expectation.
