Here’s some news regarding a franchise that just keeps coming back. You know which one I am talking about. Come November 1, Terminator: Dark Fate marks the franchise’s return to woo theatergoers of their hard-cold cash. The last outing in Terminator: Genisys proved there was definite interest in the franchise. That film made $27 million during its opening weekend — an all-time low. That being said, it seems that there’s still some interest from fans in seeing how a ragtag group of intrepid heroes and a time-traveling robot will stop Judgment Day for the sixth time — at least that’s what Paramount thinks.
But how will it all pan out for them at the box office? According to Box Office Pro, Terminator: Dark Fate will rock theaters around the United States when it takes in $35 – $45 million dollars. That’s more than Genisys earned its opening weekend. It’s also about on par with what Terminator Salvation netted when it earned $42.6 million during its opening weekend.

Hopefully, this outing proves to be the return to form the franchise keeps promising with every subsequent plot reset. Let’s all hope Dark Fate is more than just fan service and a trip down some post-apocalyptic memory lane where we witness original Terminator star Linda Hamilton and T800 Arnold Schwarzenegger ride off into the sunset.
The latest trailer certainly sets this up to look like a brave new chapter in the franchise. It’s also nice to know the film is being directed by Tim Miller whose last film was 2016’s Deadpool. That film helped reshape what a superhero movie could be, and more specifically how it could be rated. Could the team of Cameron producing and Miller directing me the lineup needed to bring this franchise back and connect with today’s audiences?
