Hello again and welcome back to my monthly picks, The Comic Stash: September. I bring you books to check out in comic shops! There are always tons of enjoyable books titles coming out from big guns like Marvel, DC and even Image. Also, some with not-so-great writing or art. Sometimes, and it has been for a long time, the best ones seem to come from the independent publishers.
The reason is simple the writers and artist are not bound by a character’s rules that have been set by that company. You will never see a Superman title where he must go after a killer who you can see what he does to his victims, and have Superman cross that line. Indies have no rules and can take that reader to any place and do what they like to that character, which to me seems to be the reason more collectors are buying them. Sure, you will have a main title from DC or Marvel introduce a new character, but they do not always make the cut to the fans.
Well, that is me just venting a little on wishing better stuff from title I love as a kid. But please, if you enjoy what you read now, go for it, and enjoy the book! Now for the main reason why you stopped by to read this column. The Comic Stash: September bring you books that look worth checking out and could be a gem down the road.
