The Far-Fetched Cast Of How I Met Your Father: What The Hell!
Hulu has finally announced their cast for the How I Met Your Mother spinoff, How I Met Your Father. The series will still have the same setup as HIMYM, but with Sophie, played by Hilary Duff, and her group of friends. She shares with her son how she met his father.
The Odd Cast
HIMYF will have Hilary Duff starring as younger Sophie. Chris Lowell stars as aspiring musician, Jesse, who is an Uber driver that lives with his best friend, Tom. I don’t know who the hell plays Tom yet. Tien Tran is cast as Jesse’s adopted sister, Ellen. Ellen just moved from a small farming town to New York after her and her wife separated. Her bio describes her as being “more comfortable in an organic lettuce field than in a Brooklyn dive bar.” Then why would you move to an extreme urban setting and an expensive one at that?
Oh, It Gets Worse
Francia Raisa stars as Valentina, Sophie’s roommate. She’s an aspiring stylist that just returned from London Fashion Week with Charlie, played by Tom Ainsley. Charlie is an aspiring model in love with Valentina from conservative aristocrats so he suffers from a rich person’s bubble. I guess he’s going to struggle with real world problems even though the other characters seem a little lost when it comes to the real world too. Finally, Suraj Sharma stars as Sid, Jesse’s best friend and roommate. He’s also a new bar owner… in New York… How much money does this young man have? The Hollywood Reporter had Jesse’s bio living with Tom, but Sid lives with Jesse. Maybe it was a typo.

What is Hilary Duff thinking? New York is extremely expensive to live in and own a business in. What is Ellen going to do to afford living in one of New York’s shoe boxes after coming from a small town? Where did Sid get the money to start a bar in one of the most expensive places to live? He’s so young and I’m sure he majored in business. I hope he majored in business. How much student loan debt does he have? The money to go to London Fashion Week from New York, and I’m just guessing here, would be high. I just don’t get how these characters have this much money living in New York. The only realistic character is Jesse unless he has a nice apartment. HIMYM seemed a little more plausible. HIMYF will have 10 episodes.
What did you think of the characters in How I Met Your Father? Have you lived in New York and if so, how ridiculous or realistic do the characters seem? Let me know in the comments.
