The Many Saints Of Newark Trailer Gets Us Ready For The Sopranos Prequel Film

Regardless of what genre of television you’re into, usually, you know the name, Tony Soprano. The groundbreaking series, The Sopranos debuted on HBO in 1999 and continued for six seasons until 2007. The series has won countless awards and is considered one of the greatest television series of all time. Now Warner Bros. Pictures is ready to take us back to the early days of Antonio Soprano in the new film, The Many Saints of Newark. Today they have released the first trailer for the film. Check it out below!

The Many Saints of Newark is produced in part by The Sopranos creator David Chase. It will be directed by Alan Tayor. Together they aim to enhance the history of the beloved story for the big screen. Here we will see Tony’s early years explored through his relationship with his mobster uncle, Dickie Moltisanti. He is the influence that steers Tony toward the criminal underworld. Along with that, fans of the series will enjoy revisiting familiar characters on the big screen. But the studio has emphasized that it’s a gangster epic for all audiences, whether your familiar with the series or not.

Here is the synopsis for The Many Saints of Newark:

Young Anthony Soprano is growing up in one of the most tumultuous eras in Newark’s history, becoming a man just as rival gangsters begin to rise up and challenge the all-powerful DiMeo crime family’s hold over the increasingly race-torn city. Caught up in the changing times is the uncle he idolizes, Dickie Moltisanti, who struggles to manage both his professional and personal responsibilities—and whose influence over his impressionable nephew will help make the teenager into the all-powerful mob boss we’ll later come to know: Tony Soprano.

The film features Alessandro Nivola as Richard “Dickie” Moltisanti, and Michael Gandolfini stepping into his father’s iconic role of Tony Soprano. They have a long list of powerhouse actors rounding out the film’s cast including Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro, Italian discovery Michela De Rossi, Ray Liotta, and Vera Farmiga.
