Wheel Of Time/God Of War Showrunner Not Worried About Pressure Of Making Both Shows

The Wheel of Time and God of War showrunner Rafe Judkins is not worried about the pressures of making both shows at the same time. So far God of War is still in early development. Judkins is currently in a pause in Season 3 production of The Wheel of Time, with Season 2 streaming now. It was announced that Judkins would also be showrunning a God of War adaptation from the popular video game series.

Some fans of both franchises were worried Judkins would be taking on too much with both. However in a recent Q&A for Wheel of Time Judkins indicated that making 16 episodes of TV across each 2 year period isn’t as bad as when he made 22 per year for TV. Check it out.

Of course, this also means that the plan is to release these shows every 2 years. Some Wheel of Time fans had hoped it could start to become a yearly release, but I personally just never found that feasible whatsoever. This way, they can be filming God of War whilst they work on post production for Wheel of Time and vice versa.

Honestly, I don’t give two hoots about God of War. I’m not sure it works as a TV series for me. Then again, not a big fan of the games either. At the same time, I’ll give God of War a chance and if it’s good it’s good. I just have far more invested in making sure Judkins focus is on Wheel of Time.

I do understand the fans who are worried the show’s will lose momentum by not being annual. However, the special effects work and the costs involved in this shows are huge. I’m just not sure it’s possible to have a yearly schedule. House of the Dragon is only going to be every 2 years. As it seems, so is The Rings of Power.

This is the golden era for Fantasy adaptations. Therefore, I’d rather the time is taken to give us quality over quantity. I’ve so far been disappointed with The Witcher as it has progressed. I also didn’t think much of Rings of Power at all. Though, perhaps my Rings of Power opinion is clouded by dislike of lore changes made rather than overall quality? House of the Dragon though, was excellent, and Wheel of Time Season 2 has been at almost the same level.

What do you think of his comments as The Wheel of Time and God of War showrunner Rafe Judkins is not worried about the pressures of making both shows at the same time? Thoughts below as always.
