The upcoming Marvel Disney+ series Ironheart is set to explore the life of Riri Williams becoming the next Iron Man. The biggest question is whether Marvel Studios will follow the storyline of the comics and include Tony Stark in the show. With Tony making the ultimate sacrifice in Avengers Endgame and Robert Downey Jr. being pretty adamant he is done with the character that we won’t see the philanthropist, playboy, billionaire back.
That is until the latest report from The Cosmic Circus. The report comes from The Cosmic Circus’s very own Lizzie Hill that the working title to Ironheart is “Wise Guy”. This title is interesting because it could be a reference none other than Tony Stark?

This working title could be a clue of whether or not we could see the return of Tony Stark. Lizzie speculates that we could see Tony return in some sort of AI fashion. That would be able to go around the issue of Tony being dead from Avengers Endgame, but would it lessen the impact of Tony’s death with an AI version of himself still around. In Spider-Man: Far From Home we see that Tony left behind sunglasses that controlled E.D.I.T.H. (Even Dead I’m The Hero) so I doubt that Marvel Studios will use this trick again.
The other speculation that Lizzie points out and I agree with is it could be that “Wise Guy” could be a reference to Lt. Col. James Rhodes. Since he already has the War Machine suit and was Tony’s best friend it would make sense for Rhodes to mentor Riri Williams. Don Cheadle is set to reprise his role as Lt. Col. James Rhodes in the upcoming Disney+ series Armor Wars and he already appeared in a cameo appearance in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series.

Ironheart, starring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, is currently expected to start production in April 2022. The date for when it hits Disney+ has not yet been set.
