Xbox Cloud Gaming Now On iOS As Of Yesterday

As per the title, Xbox Cloud Gaming now on iOS. That means not only will Android users be able to play their Xbox games on their phones and tablets, but Apple users also. This is good news for someone like me who has an iPhone and and Xbox Series X with Ultimate Game Pass subscription.

Not only that, but Microsoft also announced that the technology now uses Xbox Series X instead of Xbox One, improving the overall gameplay experience for Cloud users. So far, setting things up is pretty easy.

Simply go to xbox.com/play and sign in. You can immediately get ready any games you have installed on your home console, or play games from the Game Pass library. On iOS you can also add the web page to your home screen so it appears like an app. It took me around 5-6 minutes from first reading the announcement to getting it set up on my phone.

Alas, only certain games will not be playable for me right now because I don’t have a controller. However, if like me you don’t have any controller to fit your phone, you can always go for the Xbox backbone accessory. Check it out Here. The price is a hefty $99 currently but I am sure this will come down eventually. There are over 50 games on Game Pass currently which do utilize Touch controls. In other words you will not need a controller connected to your device.

I am going to get one of these Backbones eventually for sure. However, there is currently no rush as I generally work from home anyway. However once things change, the commute, or lunch break could be a great opportunity for me to play a few games if bored. Plus, there is always possibility of using this service when on vacation somewhere and you are lost for something to do.

Sadly, until I can get one of these backbone controllers I have not been able to test a ‘proper’ game yet. I want to see how my favorite pastime Destiny 2 performs on the Xbox Cloud,
